Directions for using this Tincture.
A dose may be taken an hour before going to rest at night. A child under ten years old is to begin with one drop, and increase one drop every night; a child from ten to fifteen years old, with two, and increase two ; a person from fifteen to eighteen, with three, and increase three ; a person over eighteen, with five, and increase five. Increasing the dose every night, until it produces sleepiness or a blindness, or until a qualmishness of the stomach is observed, the dose that produces these effects is to be taken as long as these effects are produced. Whenever it loses its effects, the dose may be enlarged, or it may be taken twice in twenty four hours.

This tincture should be taken several months, or until all apprehension of a recurrance of the disease is removed.

Each dose may be taken in a small quantity of fresh water : and some water may be drank to remove the acrid taste.

Should the bowels become too loose, the tincture may be omitted a few days ; and if they should become costive, or there be much acid on the stomach, a dose of magnesia, or some other purgative, my be taken ; during which time, this tincture is not to be used.
